Welcome and Syllabus for Fall 2011-2012
Welcome to a new and intensive Upward Bound Year
Dear students,
My name is Hector Ugarte; I will be your instructor for the Advanced Reading, Writing & Study Skills Junior class for the 2011-2012 academic year.
I have been with the program for almost seven years now. I am a graduate of this wonderful university and hold various degrees such as a BA in History, Speech & language Pathology, and a Masters degree in Hispanic American Literature. I am also a certified primary and secondary teacher in the state of Texas and I am a proud member of the Upward Bound faculty.
Upward Bound is an intensive and exciting program that serves a few selected students. You are blessed to be part of this great resource program as we prepare you to succeed in your next step in your academic life, college.
Your college life will be the one that forms you as an individual, professional and as a citizen. Going to college is not all about attending school; going to college shapes your intellect as well as it gives you an identity that will guide you to your future.
Upward Bound is proud to have you and we do not expect anything less from you. All of the faculty that works for and with you are prepared professionals that bring their expertise to your classrooms.
